Allerton Bishop is pleased to be exclusively partnering with an established pharmaceutical manufacturing organisation to appoint an experienced Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager for one of its German operations.

 

This is an opportunity for an accomplished EHS professional to take ownership of environmental, health and safety performance within a technically demanding, highly regulated manufacturing environment.Our client is seeking someone who can bring together strong regulatory knowledge, sound commercial judgment and a practical approach to operational risk management. The successful candidate will play an important role in strengthening EHS standards, influencing operational decision-making and embedding a proactive safety culture throughout the organisation.

 

Key Responsibilities

As the appointed EHS Manager you will:

  • Take responsibility for the development, implementation and continuous improvement of site-wide EHS policies, procedures and management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable German environmental, occupational health and safety legislation.
  • Provide expert EHS guidance to operational leadership, engineering, maintenance and other key functions.
  • Lead risk assessments, incident investigations and corrective and preventive action programmes.
  • Develop meaningful EHS performance indicators and drive measurable improvements.
  • Coordinate regulatory inspections, internal assessments and external audits.
  • Support engineering projects, operational changes and continuous improvement initiatives from an EHS perspective.
  • Strengthen employee engagement, safety awareness and accountability through effective communication, coaching and training.
  • Build constructive relationships with regulatory authorities and relevant external stakeholders.
  • Promote practical, risk-based solutions that support both employee wellbeing and operational effectiveness.

 

The Candidate

We are interested in speaking with established EHS professionals who have developed their careers within pharmaceutical, chemical, life sciences or similarly regulated environments.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • Approximately 10 years or more of relevant EHS experience, including significant responsibility within an operational manufacturing environment.
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety or a related discipline.
  • Strong working knowledge of German environmental, health and safety legislation and associated regulatory obligations.
  • Demonstrable experience managing EHS systems, regulatory inspections, risk assessments and improvement programmes.
  • The ability to influence senior stakeholders and engage effectively with employees across all levels of a manufacturing organisation.
  • A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach, combining regulatory discipline with an understanding of operational realities.
  • Professional fluency in German and English.
